Upload Video: Read the Small Print

If you have to upload video, always read the agreement that you have to confirm before you use the site. Video uploads may not be your property as soon as you use a web page for the upload.

Always read the "terms of use" carefully and know what you are agreeing to. Otherwise you may unknowingly be giving a site you wanted to upload video through permission to:

- Monetize your content however they want

- Use your uploaded video in their advertising and promotion

- Share your video upload with their "partner sites"

- Potentially even edit your video in a way that might distort your meaning or purpose.

- Use your video in other medium - your uploaded video could appear on television - which could be a good or bad thing.

Most times none of the above is going to happen, but if you have to upload video that is going to be the cornerstone of a marketing campaign, important to your website, or is private in some way, read the fine print first.
